Close to the sun is a horror adventure game and it is played as a first-person perspective. The game is set in 1897 and is in a technological war between Nikola tesla, who was a Serbian-American inventor, engineer and futurist who developed the electricity and Thomas Edison, who was a businessman and greatest inventor of America of that time. The game starts in a small boat, the player spends most of his time in Helios, a gigantic ocean liner. The ship is the world’s largest and it consists of a lot of private quarters and laboratories. The ship also includes its own railway system, garden, cinema and a hospital and many more other facilities. The ship consists of a tesla tower and the ship is owned by a fictional company named “Wardenclyffe” and it is headed by tesla. The company gives electricity to half of the world and desires to give to the whole world.
