Dead Cell is all set on an unnamed horrific island, the controller is a prisoner, a greenish blob who is capable of possessing dead bodies in the depths of the island. The head of the prisoners is immortal. The game begins as a prisoner wakes in the depths of the island’s prison with a giant skeleton who has a spear inside of it. A soldier says that the prisoner has been trying to escape from an unspecified time. When the prisoners come out of the prison quarters and navigate the island, they get to know the island was a mighty kingdom centuries ago, but a plague named the malaise destroyed everything. The plague turned the people into zombies or monstrous husks. The alchemist of the island tried hard but couldn’t find any cure for this plague. The player is a slime-like creature, and they have to fight out of this corpse, the player gains a lot of weapons and treasure and different tools in the way of the game.
